The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has elected Extreme Engineering’s Executive Vice President, Philip Wilson, as their new chairman of the Service Awards Committee for 2017 and 2018.
Philip Wilson will replace the great industry leader and past chair, John Collins, and take on the new role later this year. Mr. Wilson also serves on the Global Manufacturer and Suppliers and Membership Committee for 2017.
“I’m incredibly honored that I was asked to serve as chair for the Service Awards Committee. This committee has been recognizing leaders for over 60 years and I’m excited to carry on this great legacy.” The Service Awards committee is responsible for choosing leaders for each three categories within the amusement industry. These three categories are Lifetime, Outstanding and Meritorious Service.
The committee elects a winner, for each category, from a list of nominated candidates based of merit. The award winners are recognized at the annual IAAPA awards breakfast, during the IAAPA conference and trade show, in Orlando, Florida this November. “Hosting the awards ceremony is going to be a blast and we have an exciting new format for 2017,” states Wilson.
Along with Wilson’s recent honor, Wilson has been a member of IAAPA for over 17 years, earning his IAAPA certification (IAAPA Certified Attractions Executive). Wilson has served on the Marketing Committee, Space Allocation, M&S task force and Service Awards Committee, and was previously honored as an IAAPA “Featured Member” (http://www.iaapa.org/about-iaapa/featured-member).
